What is Crew Chief?

Crew Chief is a freeware application that adds realism to your racing experience through the addition of a realistic race engineer and spotter.

Crew Chief monitors real-time data directly from your sim racing app’s API, acting as a virtual spotter and race engineer.

The Race engineer will provide voice updates on key information about the race such as your lap times, gaps between competitors, and race standings.

The Virtual Spotter functionality is a key feature, helping players be aware of nearby cars and potential hazards, especially useful on single-screen setups

Crew Chief is incredibly customizable, allowing one to configure your engineer to relay specific information. The app can provide insight into the car’s current condition, including brake and tyre temperatures, tyre pressures, and other environmental conditions.

The app even supports voice recognition to talk to your crew cheif during a race session.

Key Features

Real-time situational awareness:

Crew Chief provides crucial information about other cars around you, including their proximity and relative position (e.g., "Car on your left," "Car behind you"), helping you avoid collisions and make informed decisions on track.

Incident and off-track alerts:

The spotter can alert you to incidents or cars going off-track nearby, enhancing safety and situational awareness.

Pit stop guidance:

Crew Chief can calculate optimal pit stop timing based on your fuel consumption and track conditions, as well as informing you about the amount of fuel to take.

Damage and repair information:

The spotter will inform you about damage sustained and the necessary repairs, including the predicted remaining damage after repairs are complete.

Customizable voice and messages:

You can customize the voice of the spotter and even enable messages that are more colorful or critical.

Compared to default spotter:

While iRacing, ACC, and others also have a spotter function, Crew Chief offers more detailed information and a more immersive experience. Crew Chief can provide more in-depth feedback about your car's condition, track conditions, and other drivers, making it a valuable tool for both casual and competitive sim racers.
